Another Meatlocker Show

I bummed a ride into another Meatlocker show with the Blackout Shoppers last Saturday. There was a good lineup, and I wanted to try out my new Nikon D 3000.

The camera did pretty well on it's first outing, I think. I have some issues with slow recycling-and that caused me to miss some pictures. I think it was a combo of using the onboard flash and that I was using just a plain-jane SDHC card-the images took a bit more time to write. I'll fix that by getting an Ultra card; and I'm going to look into getting an external flash(the camera has a hot shoe)-which I want to do anyway, since I want to experiment with 'bouncing' the flash. I'm sure that people will appreciate not having a flash fire off in their face, and I can avoid overexposing the pictures in close shots. All that being said-I had a significantly higher number of usable pictures than I usually get. I posted 1088 pictures in the flickr set for the show.

There is the social aspect of shows, of course-I like going out and meeting up with all my friends and acquaintances from the scene:

Adrian Gonzales

Jay Collins and Sarah B.(obviously not in that order)

There was a lot of that. Adrian had the Danger Zone comps he'd made up and described on Facebook, as well as the Stackers album he had a hand in. I had to get those. It was a good deal, since they were dead cheap, and crammed with music. After reading his exploits on FB, I had to find out what it was all about.

Sarah B. was back from France and she read her poetry. I glommed one of her books-which I really shouldn't've done, even though she said it was okay. She only ran a limited number of these, and normally they cost $, which I have deprived her of.

There was a bit of Drama, as well, which I totally missed, having had my head in my arse at the time. Feet First was about-though not on the bill-and they scarfed DUI's instruments to play an Op Ivy cover that DUI had not done too well on. Kind of a dickish thing to do-given that DUI are high school kids and were kind of nervous. Personally, I write that off as 'They'll do better next time'. But Ellis of Feet First Does Not Play Well With Others, and has a case of USI(which can be good and bad), so he thought he'd show them how to 'do it right'.

I'm not gonna discount the man's talent-he is good, but there are better ways to make the point, if you know what I mean. Anyway, NJ Mike of WWIX wasn't too happy about this turn of events, and he let Ellis know by mocking him-which Ellis didn't take well, but seemed to get over. Good thing for all that it managed to resolve itself peacefully; and everyone managed to have a good time just the same.
